  25. Too right! Most people post a question when they've read TFM over and
  26. over, and their eyes begin to swim and their brain reel. What they then
  27. want is an explanation of TFM.

  29. It's an unfortunate fact that most guides and docs are written by an
  30. expert, usually the programmer, who doesn't see the difficulties. I
  31. believe all docs should be 'tested' by a beginner before publication.
  32. I have a 'beta tester' who reads my docs and suggests improvements.
  33. My pet hate is the writer who assumes you know what the heck he's on
  34. about, and says "Surely everyone knows that" when most people do NOT
  35. know it. By 'people' I mean 'reasonably experienced computer users',
  36. and there lies the difficulty in knowing what can safely be omitted.
